The river, like the traffic, is a frenetic and colourful collective of people on the move. The pace and spirit are contagious, with an interesting blend of architecture, although sometimes the gap between rich and poor is glaringly obvious in the buildings. Within metres of one another, top hotels overshadow humble dwellings that seem to cling to the riverbanks by not much more than a prayer. And occasionally the big brands hog prime frontage.
I recommend catching the ferry or a longtail boat to the temples along the riverbanks, including the landmark Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn.
You never quite know who your co-passengers might be 🙂
