One of many scenic hikes that offer spectacular views over Hout Bay, Llandudno and as far away as the Kommetjie Lighthouse at one point, the Suikerbossie Contour Walk starts just above the landmark Suikerbosie restaurant.
The initial climb is steep and there is some scrambling as you head through an
indigenous forest to the waterfall at Myburgh’s Kloof .
It’s best to do this hike in winter because much of the fynbos (flora) is in bloom thanks to the winter rainfall – and this waterfall only flows in winter.
Right now several varieties of Proteas are in bloom.
From the waterfall you can head off to Myburgh’s Corner and Myburgh’s Waterfall Ravine, and catch your breath in the peaceful indigenous forest with it’s canopy of treetops offering ample shade. The entire hike is about 8km.
