The Accidental Ambassador

I love books, especially non-fiction, so it came as no surprise that I arrived home tonight from a book launch with yet another one to add to the growing “winter reading” pile.

This latest one is a particular treasure as it’s another for my collection of books autographed by the author, who this time just happens to be the charismatic Tony Leon, former leader of the Democratic Alliance, South Africa’s official opposition.

Among many other things, Leon is an academic and an articulate speaker and ‘The Accidental Ambassador’ is an equally articulate anecdotal account of his recent term as Ambassador to Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.  Having visited Buenos Aires and parts of central Argentina myself, I know I’m going to completely enjoy this read 🙂

Many of us couldn’t keep our eyes off his bright pink socks!

In conversation with John Maytham from 567 Cape Talk at the book launch.
