The Breakfast Crowd

I can feel and see Autumn drawing in more every day.  Starlings have been swirling overhead for a few weeks now getting ready to fly north, while the local birds seem to be stocking up on padding for the winter.  Our fig tree was the site of much commotion this morning as the White Eyes battled a more timid Cape Bulbul for poll position around the last of the ripe fruits. Although double their size, the unimpressed Bulbul eventually gave up and flew off. A lone European Starling interrupted his breakfast of berries in the mirror plant nearby to watch the squabbling.
